Seattle resident and photo blogger Tom Scott took the image above. His site is full of images, many of which seem to capture a hesitating moment, scenes on the verge of activity. The shot above captures Seattle’s ubiquitous light posts with their distinctive decorative metal pedestals.
Downtown Seattle’s ornate manhole covers, light fixtures and bronze street name inlays were among the first subtle hints that this was a great place to be when I first moved here. I hope SPU and DPD continue to keep this high standard of pedestrian-level detailing to encourage lively, vibrant streets.
