Steet Smarts from Seattle Reading
For those of you interested in urban natural history as well as native plants, David Williams will be reading from his new book, The Street-Smart Naturalist: Field Notes from Seattle.
The book consists of 12 personal essays about natural history in the city. Topics range from drinking water to building stone geology to crows to weather. You may be familiar with one of the chapters already, which was excerpted in February in the Seattle Weekly. The chapter focuses on what Seattle looked like botanically in 1850 and what clues are left in the landscape to interpret the story. Another chapter addresses invasive species and includes long comments from Sarah Reichard.
